As a responsible business entity who has long strived to prevent environmental pollution, Nippon Foil Mfg. Co. instituted the environmental policy in 1998 in order to tackle with the present global environmental concerns throughout our business activities.

Philosophy

Nippon Foil Mfg., Co. recognizes that preserving this irreplaceable environment is one of the most important challenges for humanity. We will conduct all aspect of business activities taking sustainability into our considerations to help realize better society.

Principles

1. We have established environmental management systems to promote activities for environmental conservation.
2. We will continually observe the impact our business makes on environment and take necessary measures to minimize it within our technical and financial means.
3. We will comply with related laws, regulations and agreements, and moreover, we set our own internal standards and targets if necessary.
4. We will strive to reduce resource inputs and energy consumption, and promote recycling to minimize waste.
5. We will strive to develop eco-conscious products.
6. We have training programs for employees to communicate with them and to promote awareness of environmental conservation and let them fully understand our policy.

Acquisition of ISO14001 certification

Shiga Plant granted in October 1999
Nogi Plant granted in May 2000
ISO14001 standard EMS in each plant were integrated in July, 2004.

Activities

1.Focusing on minimizing the environmental impact
　・We have established internal targets for drainage and others.
2.Reduce energy consumption per production
　・We have introduced interlocks and inverters to put a full stop to attached equipment when out of operation.
3.Reduce waste and recycle them into resources
　・We have reduced waste generated in production and increased the reuse of roll cores.
4.Designing and developing new products in line with sustainability policy
　・Shiga plant has increased the development of products with non-toluene ink, 　　and also developed biodegradable package material. (Trade name: ECOCE)
5.Reduce the use of groundwater for cooling
　・Nogi plant has introduced cooling systems.
6.Discontinued use of incinerators (completed in 2000)
　・Wood chips and paper scraps are separately collected and recycled.
7. Our plants achieved zero-emission as follows.
　・Nogi Plant achieved in May, 2005.
　・Shiga Plant achieved in April, 2009.
